Assessing Digital Learning
Introduction
In this course, I was able to collaboratively explore action research and how it can be applied to education. Not only were my co-workers, Veronica Balli, Ileana Reyna, and I able to dive deeper into our innovation plan, Blended Learning: Personalizing the Future of Education, but we were also able to focus our research on the use of adaptive digital programs within our blended learning environments.
In order to conduct our research, we had to learn how to find, review, and analyze different resources such as books, journal articles, blogs, and videos. We also learned about collecting quantitative and qualitative data and how to use these measurement methods to support our action research.
To learn more about my action research project, please review my Action Research Outline, Literature Review, and my Action Research Plan below.

Blended Learning: Closing Gaps with Adaptive Programs
Connection to Innovation Plan:
By incorporating adaptive learning programs, such as Lexia CORE 5 and i-Ready, within our innovation plan, Blended Learning: Personalizing the Future of Education, we harnessed the power of technology in order to provide personalized instruction and close academic gaps.
Our innovation plan first focuses on implementing blended learning in our dyslexia lab and a 4th-grade classroom. During the 2021-2022 school year, we began incorporating a station rotation blended learning model that incorporated two adaptive learning platforms, Lexia Core5 and iReady.

Literature Review
This literature review will explore the benefits of blended learning, specifically how using adaptive programs within blended learning can impact student achievement at the elementary level in the subject of reading, as well as the barriers that exist while implementing a blended learning environment.
Action research PLan
As we moved towards a blended learning model, we chose to research our district's adaptive learning programs, i-Ready and Lexia Core5.
These two programs provided students with the opportunity to learn at their own pace and at their specific level. Along with teacher-led small group interventions, these adaptive digital programs differentiated instruction based on students’ unique needs while promoting growth and motivation.
Our action research will analyze whether the use of Lexia Core5 and i-Ready adaptive programs during the 2021-2022 school year helped close learning gaps, leading to higher motivation and student growth.
