Concepts of Educational Technology
During my time in 5302: Concepts of Educational Technology, I learned more about learning how to learn. I not only read and learned about COVA but was also fully immersed in it. When I first started the ADL program last October, I was so worried, anxious, and concerned with the way that the classes were structured. I wasn't used to this type of learning approach. I was only used to learning through lectures, and the regurgitation of information, but as the semester progressed, I saw first hand what COVA was all about. I loved the project, papers, and research and most importantly I loved having choice, ownership, and voice through authentic learning opportunities (COVA). After learning more about the COVA model and actually being immersed in it, I now see the benefits of having students engage in the COVA Approach, helping students learn how to learn and making the learning meaningful. I believe that this learning approach increases motivation, engagement, and ownership, which could definitely fix some of the issues that traditional didactic teaching has. I have seen first hand that students are usually more invested in the learning when they have choice and voice.
I also learned more about Growth Mindset as a student. Although I understood the importance of a Growth Mindset as an educator and as a parent, when it came to me being a learner again, I caught myself having a very fixed mindset. I would tend to forget about the power of "YET" and about the process of learning and growing and was solely focused on what I could not do. I grew anxious and worried. Now, as time has passed and I learned more through my readings and videos about Growth Mindset, I am connecting it to my life, not just as an educator and a mom, but as a student and learner. I am now constantly reminding myself that learning is a journey and that it is ok not to know something, yet. Going forward, I will continue to engage in readings, videos, and discussions about the impact our mindset has on our learning, so that I may continue to grow.

Growth Mindset Plan
Having a growth mindset is essential and vital for success, especially in a school setting. Students that have a growth mindset believe that they can develop their abilities through hard work and dedication. Having this type of mindset creates a desire to learn while embracing challenges and persevering when setbacks arise (Jeffrey, 2020). It is important that we as educators also believe and develop a growth mindset in order to teach and model to students that failures can be a gift.
Learning Manifesto
Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion for learning. From my elementary science projects and my middle school research based classes, to my graduate school literature review last semester, I have loved it all; the research, the collaboration, and the acquisition of new knowledge. As an educator and an adult student, I now realize what all these amazing learning experiences had in common. I was in charge of my own learning! I had choice and voice through authentic learning opportunities, creating a sense of ownership and pride in my work.
As a teacher and current graduate student, I have learned from my own educational experiences, and have vowed to be the kind of educator that creates fun, authentic, and student-centered learning experiences that students will remember for years to come.
Professional Learning Networks
What are Professional Learning Networks (PLNs)? According to National Geographic (2017), PLNs are formed by teachers who want to work together—teachers who see every day as an opportunity to both share amazing things that they do and learn amazing things from others. And thanks to platforms like Twitter, PLNs exist for nearly every grade and subject area. To learn more about a few of my PLNs click the link below.
