Collaborative Research

Updated: Jul 22, 2022

My action research has been a collaborative research assignment with my coworkers and classmates, Veronica Balli and Ileana Reyna. We dive deep into our innovation plan, Blended Learning: Personalizing the Future of Education, which we implemented this past school year, and specifically research the use of adaptive digital platforms within a blended learning environment.

Action research Question:

In what ways does the usage of the i-Ready and Lexia Core5 adaptive digital programs promote higher motivation and academic growth in our 4th-grade and Dyslexia students?

Literature Review:

We also revamped our original literature review, which was about the benefits and barriers of blended learning.

We not only revised and edited it, but we added in-depth research and knowledge of how adaptive digital programs impact student achievement and motivation within a blended learning environment.

Action research purpose and measurements:

The purpose of our study was to find out whether the use of the i-Ready adaptive program in the 4th-grade classroom and the use of Lexia Core5 in the Dyslexia classroom during the 21-22 school year helped increase motivation and close learning gaps, leading to student growth.

We are currently using mixed methods to collect data. While we have already collected and analyzed i-Ready, Lexia Core5, and STAAR data, which are our quantitative measures, we will also be conducting student and staff surveys and polls at the beginning of the year, which will serve as our qualitative measures.
